Hi, I’m bailey founder of Ringcrush and this is my Youtube Series “The Million Dollar Etsy Shop”. Today I’m going to be talking about how to figure out what to sell on Etsy. So the first thing you’ll want to do when figuring out what you want to sell is to pick a niche that searches well and of course make sure it’s something you’re interested in. Whether it’s coffee mugs, tank tops, or the example I will use today: Slime *excitement/facial expression but, but*. Once you pick your niche, you’ll need to find a niche, within the niche, within the niche.
So what do I mean by all of these niches? OK so my concept, in this case, is SLIME but my niche within would be, perhaps, (unicorn slime). A niche within that within that niche (scented unicorn slime) and my Niche within THAT niche (one step further, rainbow scented unicorn slime). So what’s the deal with all these niches within niches? Take a look at the search result data on the niches I listed: You’ll quickly notice the richer we get, the fewer results there are on Etsy, and when you’re posting a new product, it’s nearly impossible to be noticed if you’re on page 250 of the search results. However, if you’re on page 2, it’s very feasible to get found.
As a bonus, as you start selling, your product ranking will rise and you will slowly be showing up on earlier pages in the more competitive niches like “scented unicorn slime”, “unicorn slime” and if things go well enough, “slime”.
